PELCO easiGlow ™ The glow discharge cleaning system is a cost-effective, compact, and user-friendly system used for cleaning and surface treatment of TEM grids and supporting films. After gas glow discharge treatment, the surface of the TEM carbon support film, which is lipophilic, becomes negatively charged and hydrophilic, making it easy for the aqueous solution to disperse.

The system includes two independently controlled gas inlets, and the vacuum degree is set by an electronically controlled precision proportional valve. For laboratories that frequently perform hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface treatments, a dual glow discharge system (Figure 2) is provided to avoid cross contamination in the sample chamber.
