Sanitary temperature sensors, also known as temperature sensors used in the food and pharmaceutical industry, refer to applications that are generally used in the food processing industry, pharmaceutical processing industry, and are also expanding to the biochemical products and fine chemical industry, in compliance with FDA GMP standards.

Characteristic features

Due to high hygiene requirements, the surface of the product should minimize dead corners and structures that are difficult to clean, and comply with the installation methods of food or drug processing equipment systems, such as using φ 34, φ 50.5 clamps, spherical solder pads, or fully enclosed waterproof and anti-corrosion structures. In some special occasions, the protection level should reach IP68.
Generally, sanitary temperature sensors are made of all stainless steel or stainless steel materials with a grade of 316 or 316L or higher for parts that come into contact with liquids, products, and measuring media. At least 304 or higher grade stainless steel should be used on junction boxes and accessory materials (referring to accessories of non-contact products). In some special occasions and sealing materials, medical grade or food grade non-metallic materials such as medical silicone, medical PTFE, and food lubricants can also be used. These structures are easy to clean (acid wash) by CIP and can achieve the relevant corrosion level.

Most sanitary temperature sensors now use platinum resistors, such as PT100 and PT1000. But in some special occasions, such as inspecting cooked meat processing products, piercing thermocouples and curved armored thermocouples are also used in the food and pharmaceutical industry. Most sanitary temperature sensors use PT100, with an accuracy level of generally Class A. In situations with high requirements, redundant dual platinum resistors can be used, with a measurement range of -20~150 ℃. Output mode with direct output, 4-20mA output, LED+4~20mA on-site display.
