For agricultural and environmental samples, the determination of carbon and nitrogen, especially their ratio, is a very fundamental analysis.

VELP carbon and nitrogen analyzer from ItalyIt is a universal solution suitable for samples such as soil, food, feed, starch, wastewater, sediment, and filtration residue. The CN 802 control and analysis software with multiple functions can be used without special training, with visualized information and easy query. It automatically calculates the C: N ratio and has a series of built-in standard methods that can be directly called. The CN combustion method first burns the sample inside the combustion tube to generate elemental compounds. The water vapor is removed by the (WT1) di one-step physical dehydration device (DriStepTM) located behind the combustion tube, and the remaining water is removed by the second chemical dehydration (WT2). Between the two dehydration stages is the reduction tube (RF). IR near-infrared sensors can accurately measure the content of CO2. Next, the gas is transported to a CO2 adsorber (CO2) that can be regenerated, and only N2 is transported to a thermal conductivity detector (TCD) with LoGasTM technology for detection, without the need for a reference gas. The detection of each sample takes 3-4 minutes.
