The method of obtaining representative samples from heterogeneous particles and powder materials is through a rotating sample separator (also known as a rotary sampler). Bradford University 1968 A A. Dr. Kahn's study was also published in the May 1970 issue of the Journal of Chemical Engineering, which concluded that rotary sample separators are indeed a method for extracting representative samples from dry, granular, or powder materials. This type of device minimizes the negative effects of differences in particle size, specific gravity, average mass, and particle shape to the greatest extent possible.

The Sepor rotary separator has a variable speed desktop rotation with a working range of 10 to 20 revolutions per minute and a variable speed vibrating feeder with a feed range of 0-2000 pounds per hour (the recommended working range for rotary samplers is 50 to 200 pounds per hour). The soft steel feeding hopper with a 60 degree tilt has a capacity to accommodate all the contents of all sample containers for each size separator. The rotary sample separator will work with particles ranging in size from 1/2 "to powder. Each rotating sample separator is equipped with a set of stainless steel interlocking sample containers. Another set of containers can accelerate the sample separation process. The driver of the rotary separator is powered by a 1/4 HP gear reduction DC motor with variable thyristor control, and can operate at 115v/1ph/60hz or 220v/1ph/50hz AC current. The rotating sample separator is easy to clean between sample runs, and the frame is installed on locking casters for easy movement.
