PEK-120 buck converter module
Implement various experiments on step-down converters, including open-loop, single loop control, dual loop control, MPPT (maximum power point tracking
Product details

The PEK-120 power electronics experimental module is a problem oriented learning process that involves circuit analysis, design, simulation, and experimentation. It quantitatively designs its power circuit and controller based on converter specifications and verifies them through PSIM simulation. The SimCoder programming process allows users to gain a deeper understanding of the relevant technologies of Buck DC-DC converters. The adoption of digital control in power converters is currently the development trend of industrial products. Digital control can enhance the functionality and performance of power converters, increase the added value of products, and more and more power conversion products have begun to adopt digital control technology. The purpose of this teaching tool is to provide a learning platform for power converters using digital control, allowing users to learn the principles, analysis, and design of power converters through simulation control using PSIM software. In addition, the control circuit can also be converted into a digital control program using PSIM's SimCoder tool, and the DSP replaced circuit can be simulated again. Finally, the verified control program can be burned into the DSP chip through simulation, and then controlled and communicated through DSP to verify the correctness of the designed circuit and controller.

PSIM is a simulation software designed specifically for various power electronics, motor drive, and power conversion systems. It has comprehensive capabilities in simulation, design, and hardware circuit implementation. Its features include comprehensive functionality, complete components, fast simulation speed, accurate simulation results, and ease of use. It is currently a commonly used teaching and research software in academia and industry internationally.

PEK-120 is a step-down converter development kit that can perform the following 5 experiments:

Experiment 1: Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)

Learn the principle of PWM switching, the working mode of Buck converter, the measurement method of open circuit voltage and current, TI F28335 DSP IC pin planning, DSP PWM and A/D module settings, RS232 monitoring of DSP internal signals, etc.

Experiment 2: Voltage mode control

Learn the model derivation, voltage loop error amplifier design, controller digitization methods, hardware planning, and SimCoder programming for single loop control of Buck converters.

Experiment 3: Current mode control

Learn the dual loop control method of Buck converter, the small signal model of current mode control converter, the design of current and voltage loop controllers, hardware planning, and SimCoder programming.

Experiment 4: PV Maximum Power Point Tracking Control (PV MPPT control)

Learn the characteristics of PV modules, various MPPT methods, SimCoder programming for perturbation observation method, SimCoder programming for incremental conductance method, and practical verification.

Experiment 5: PV Battery Charger

Learn the control method of PV cell charger combining MPPT controller and three-stage battery controller, SimCoder programming, and practical verification.

Attention: Experiments 4 and 5 require a DC power supply with PV Panel Simulator function, which can be paired with PSW 160-7.2 and optionally equipped with a PV simulator.
