LI-193 Spherical Underwater Photosynthetic Effective Radiation SensorMainly used to measure the total photosynthetically active radiation from all directions in underwater environments. The measurement depth can reach 350m. Especially suitable for studying plankton that utilize light from all directions. The measurement results are photosynthetic photon flux flux flux rate (PPFFR) or quantum scalar radiation (Quantum Scalar Irradiance).

Working principle

LI-193 uses a spherical diffuser to collect light and passes it through a filter to a silicon photodiode. The filter ensures a uniform and sensitive response between 400-700nm, which is also the main wavelength range used by underwater plants and algae. The angle response of LI-193 is slightly lower in the direction of cable connection, and the upward signal usually has a small proportion in the total signal strength in all directions, so the angle response of upward installed sensors is not significantly affected.
