The AML919L intelligent low-speed groundwater sampling system is a groundwater sampler specially designed and produced by Aimoli for sampling volatile organic compounds and semi volatile organic compounds in groundwater. The system mainly achieves automatic sampling and well washing through airbag pump sampling, water quality analysis, and system control.

The AML919L intelligent low-speed groundwater sampling system is widely used for sampling in automatic monitoring systems for groundwater pollution prevention and control, especially for monitoring groundwater in key pollution sources and centralized drinking water sources. It is related to pH value, conductivity, dissolved oxygen DO, turbidity, redox potential ORP COD、 Online monitoring devices for ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, heavy metals, etc. are used online. A low flow groundwater sampling mode is designed, which can automatically adjust the sampling flow rate based on instantaneous flow, achieve continuous sampling, and ensure that the collected water samples are more representative. It has a fixed depth sampling function and can provide uninterrupted, interference free, and non-volatile water samples to online monitoring devices.

Main principles

The AML919L intelligent low-speed groundwater sampling system adopts an airbag pump controller with automatic lifting control module and discharge control function. Before sampling, the airbag pump automatically discharges to the designated water level according to the depth of the well water level and the requirements of the sampling water level. Then, the airbag pump controller fixed on the ground automatically controls the airbag inflation of the airbag pump in an orderly manner. The water inside the airbag flows out through the drainage pipe under the pressure of the airbag, and then the airbag pump controller deflates the airbag. The water body automatically fills the airbag under the pressure of the water level. In this way, the groundwater is collected and lifted to the water quality detection unit on the ground, which monitors six parameters including pH, temperature, conductivity, oxidation-reduction potential, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity in real time. When the changes in six parameters meet the technical requirements of HJ1019-2019, the water sample will automatically flow into the online water quality analysis instrument or sample container. During the entire sampling process, the discharge water level gauge constantly monitors the changes in water level. When the discharge water level drops by more than 10cm, the airbag pump controller automatically stops working. When the aquifer recharge water level returns to within 10cm, the controller automatically starts sampling. The water sample has no contact with the air throughout the entire process, and the airbag and water sample pipeline are made of specific materials. For volatile organic compounds and semi volatile organic compounds, polytetrafluoroethylene sampling pipelines are used. The entire sampling process prevents cross interference and avoids volatilization loss.

Automatic sampling:

Timed sampling:

Fixed liquid level sampling

According to the set time interval and liquid level drop height, when the actual liquid level drop height exceeds the set liquid level height, the sampler stops sampling; If the actual liquid level drop height remains higher than the set liquid level height, the sampler will collect quantitative water samples from the groundwater environmental monitoring well to the monitoring instrument at set time intervals. This feature is designed for HJ1019.

Fixed depth sampling:

The groundwater automatic sampler automatically adjusts the sampling depth based on the liquid level and well depth, and requires the installation of a water level and well depth linkage control system. This feature is designed for scientific research.

Composition of intelligent low-speed groundwater sampling system:

The AML919L intelligent low-speed groundwater sampling system mainly includes: airbag pump, airbag pump controller, discharge water level control unit, water quality 6-parameter monitoring unit, fixed depth sampling controller, and pipeline.

(1) Airbag pump

Airbag pump is a low flow, disturbance free, and non-volatile groundwater flushing and sampling pump, suitable for various types of groundwater flushing and sampling, especially for the collection of VOC pollutant samples, suitable for monitoring wells of various diameters and depths. There is no contact between water and air during the entire sampling process. The application of airbag pumps can achieve fixed depth sampling, greatly reducing the amount of well flushing water. Compared with traditional pumping pump flushing sampling methods, it improves efficiency and reduces water sample discharge.


(2) Airbag pump controller

The airbag pump controller is the control part of the automatic soil preparation and drainage sampler. The airbag pump controller is connected to the groundwater quality monitoring instrument through RS485, and controls the start and stop of the airbag pump and adjusts the water flow rate through the executing components. The airbag pump controller is connected to a water level drop meter to observe the water level drop in millimeters in real time. The discharge water level gauge and airbag pump are intelligently linked. When the discharge water level reaches the set discharge depth (10cm), the airbag pump automatically stops working. When the water level returns to the starting level, the airbag pump automatically starts the sampling process again. Simultaneously reserve multiple data interfaces that can be integrated with big data platforms; It has wireless transmission and mobile app synchronization functions, which can achieve reverse control between the data platform and the mobile phone.


(3) Discharge water level control unit

The discharge water level control unit is used for monitoring and controlling the water level drop in groundwater sampling. The discharge water level meter transmits the measured water level data to the discharge water level control unit, perfectly achieving the coordinated automation of water level changes and discharge control.


(4) Water quality 6 parameter monitoring unit

Water quality monitoring unit with 6 parameters, real-time online measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity, turbidity, etc, Ph, Redox potential (ORP) and water temperature are six parameters. During the well washing process, the instrument automatically determines that the well washing has reached the standard and provides a prompt. At the same time, it can also serve as water quality data for a continuous monitoring system for groundwater quality, and can be integrated into a big data platform for groundwater quality monitoring to provide real-time data.


(5) Fixed depth sampling controller:

The fixed depth sampling controller automatically adjusts the water wading depth of the airbag pump based on the preset sampling depth, and requires the use of a water level gauge and a well depth linkage control system. This function is designed for sampling at the same water depth, with significant changes in water level during each sampling or more scientific research applications.


(6) Pipeline

Pipelines include gas, water, load-bearing steel wire ropes, power cables, etc. The groundwater sampling pipeline is made of PTFE material, ensuring that the entire sampling process of groundwater samples is free of volatilization loss and can eliminate cross interference; The load-bearing steel wire suspension rope and power cable are both customized with food grade materials to minimize interference.
