The battery portable ITM-525 thickness gauge sold to multiple regions worldwide is an upgraded version of INTROMET ITM-52. This instrument is used for measuring the thickness of copper holes in PCBs and the thickness of copper sheets on stacked layers. Its characteristics are fast, non-destructive measurement. It can be used for production control to ensure high-quality PCB production.

working principle

The instrument uses the eddy current principle to measure the thickness of copper sheets in holes and the four point resistance principle to measure the thickness of copper sheets on stacked layers.

The copper hole thickness gauge ITM-525 includes a host and is equipped with multiple specifications of probes

The host can be adjusted based on the thickness, conductivity, measurement unit (metric or specially designed), upper and lower limits, local time, and alarms of the PCB. It stores 15000 readings and has USB download function. The built-in functions also include the extraction of some readings, * small/* large readings, mean, standard deviation, Cp, Cpk, and bar charts. It is battery powered and comes with an internal charger.


The eddy current probe entering the hole is detachable, equipped with a probe support and replaceable EP-25 and EP-30 plug-in boxes. The EP-20 is non detachable. Insert the probe sensing tip (US Pat. 5600240) into the hole to extract the reading. Due to the special structure at the top of the probe, defects in the copper body may be detected. The probe tip is protected with special materials and can still perform measurement work in humid environments.
