BLD2000 Wood Moisture Meter

The Protimeter mini hygrometer is used to measure the moisture content (humidity) of wood and other non-conductive materials equivalent to the moisture content of wood (Wood Moisture Equivalent WME).

Mini Protimeter Usage

Remove the top cap to expose the electrode probe. Press the button located to the right of the humidity scale to turn on the instrument. The battery display light (green light) is at the bottom of the scale. Insert the probe into the surface of the tested material for testing and observe its reading. Alternatively, use an additional electrode and insert its plug into the socket on the right side of the instrument to read the humidity. After use, cover the top cap and hold down the button for at least three seconds to turn off the instrument. In order to extend the battery life, the instrument will automatically shut down after five minutes.

Measurement range and interpretation

The mini Protimeter measures the moisture content of wood to be 6-28%, indicating that the fiber moisture content has reached saturation. When measuring other non-conductive materials, this instrument has a WME value of up to 28%. WME is an inferred humidity level that indicates that the moisture content of the tested material is equivalent to the level achieved by wood. The full-scale range measured by the instrument is from 6-9O, but values exceeding 28 are relative; It only shows an increase in moisture content to a high level, rather than the actual moisture content.

The colored marked sections indicate the moisture state of the material under testing conditions. The material in the green section indicates that it is in a safe and dry state. In the yellow section, the water content is higher than the normal level, but it is not dangerous yet. We suggest that you conduct further testing. The red section indicates that the moisture content has reached an excessive level. If this state continues, it will lead to decay and mold growth.

Battery

The mini Protimeter uses two 1.5V LR6 (AA) batteries. When the battery indicator light flashes. Open the cover on the back of the instrument to replace the battery. When installing a new battery, it is necessary to ensure that the electrodes are installed correctly.

Calibration check

Overlap the two electrode probes of the instrument onto the two exposed wires of the equipped Protimeter 'Calche ck' (test stand). The correct value for instrument calibration should be displayed between 17-19. If the displayed value exceeds this range, the instrument should be returned to Protimeter or Protimeter's seller for repair.

Maintenance and Preservation

The instrument should be stored in a dry and stable environment. If the instrument is not frequently used, the battery should be removed
