Automatic pressure tracking adiabatic acceleration calorimeter APTAC 264
Automatic pressure tracking adiabatic acceleration calorimeter APTAC 264
Product details
The Accelerated Calorimeter (ARC) and Adiabatic Reaction Calorimeter (APTAC) are brand new calorimeter products manufactured by Nike, specially designed for industrial safety applications. They measure the heat and pressure properties of exothermic chemical reactions, and the information obtained can help engineers and scientists grasp the key factors of process safety design, and achieve safety assessments in manufacturing, transportation, storage, and other aspects. ARC's application areas cover chemical, pharmaceutical, energy (batteries, coal, petroleum), military (explosives), etc.

APTAC 264 surpasses traditional designs by collecting temperature and pressure rise data more quickly, taking chemical reactivity testing to a new level.
The instrument can serve as:
High performance closed working chamber adiabatic calorimeter.
• High temperature and high pressure reaction calorimeter
Open test chamber, capable of discharging and analyzing effluent. Research on emergency relief systems using the DIERS method of the American Chemical Engineering Society.

APTAC 264, with its high accuracy in testing results, can help factories scale up process design to the product level. This is achieved through:
Provide actual temperature and pressure data for dynamic modeling.
Verify the predicted chemical reactions and scenarios.
Verify the activity prediction of the emergency pressure relief system.
Directly measure the physical property data of complex mixtures.

APTAC 264 can be used for thermal analysis of various solids, liquids, gases/liquids, liquids/liquids, gases/solids, and liquid/solid mixtures. It can also be used for simulating intermittent or semi intermittent reactions, flame explosions, and emergency depressurization processes, as well as measuring some physical properties.
APTAC 264 has established a new standard for the accuracy of reactivity data measurement in the chemical manufacturing industry, including organic chemistry, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, agricultural fertilizers, fine chemicals, polymers and plastics, energetic materials, and other fields.

APTAC ® 264 is currently the most high-end adiabatic reaction calorimeter on the market. In addition to its excellent acceleration calorimeter function, APTAC ® 264 can achieve high-speed pressure balance, comes standard with multiple accessories, and is equipped with Nike's patented VARIPHI technology ™, Greatly expanding the application fields of instruments.

APTAC 264- Measurement Mode

Chemical safety
APTAC 264 typically uses a "heat wait search" operating mode, combined with adiabatic tracking of any detectable exothermic effects. Standard analysis of data can provide information about activation energy, reaction order, and reaction heat. The data collected during the cooling process characterizes the total amount of gas produced. A small tube can be inserted into the container to extract samples for analysis.
Other closed container testing modes include:
Linear heating for scanning testing
Combined with heat release detection and adiabatic operation, simulate the exposure process under heating conditions
Combined with exothermic detection and adiabatic operation, detect the isothermal aging of the sample

Reaction calorimeter
Compared to ARC, APTAC 264 uses a larger sample size, allowing for real-time addition of additional reactants during the experiment. In this way, the instrument can simulate actual process operations, which is beneficial for process development or evaluating the effectiveness of quenching agents used to control thermal runaway reactions. During the experiment, the sample can also be removed from APTAC 264 at any time.

Pressure relief analysis
APTAC 264 allows users to collect pressure relief data by running a routine closed test, followed by releasing sample pressure from the container to an external sample collection container. This test provides information about the maximum temperature rise rate, gas generation, and vapor condensation, which can be used for exhaust size design using the DIERS simplification method. After the sample is depressurized, the chemical substances will not be directly discharged into the calorimeter equipment. This important feature reduces safety issues and environmental hazards during the measurement process, significantly reducing the maintenance cost of the calorimeter. In addition, by releasing the sample into an external container, users can further analyze the composition of the released substance by combining APTAC 264 with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
