The tactile measurement kit is composed of 20 nylon fiber filaments, known as Von Frey filaments or Semmes Weinstein monofilaments in English. It is mainly used to evaluate the tactile sensation of the skin and is a very popular non-invasive experimental equipment. It can provide a stimulation force of 0.008g-300g. The thickness and extension length of nylon thread determine the amount of stimulation provided. During the experiment, select a type of nylon filament according to the actual situation, adjust the appropriate extension length, and stimulate the skin vertically. By adjusting the elongation and replacing the nylon filament, the magnitude of the stimulation force can be adjusted. After the nylon filament is bent, continuous pushing will cause more bending, but the stimulating force will not increase again. When rodents receive sufficient mechanical stimulation, their claws will have a retraction reflex. The magnitude of the stimulation force is repeatedly adjusted, and the appropriate stimulation force is finally selected. Then, using the logarithmic formula of the stimulation force designed by "Semmes Weinstein", the 50% claw retraction threshold of the animal is calculated as an indicator for evaluating tactile testing.
